The morning show wars between NBC's Today and ABC's Good Morning America (GMA) could soon see the battle of the "Ann" take place.
For Today, fired co-anchor Ann Curry could see a return to the show, but not to the anchors' desk.
A source told Radar Online, "Ann Curry reported for the Today show on Monday morning from the Syrian border, and she will be featured on a much more routine basis going forward for the Today show. Ann is truly doing what she loves the most now, reporting from war-torn countries and bringing viewers stories of people that are affected by the destruction in the region."
The source added that inevitably, Curry didn't like the way she was dismissed on the show but, "Ann is making the best of the situation and is a true professional. Fans of the Today show let the network know they missed seeing Ann and the plan going forward is to use her more. Hopefully that might bolster the show's falling ratings."
The news comes as another Ann will co-host for GMA.
Presidential Republican candidate Mitt Romney's wife, Ann Romney, will co-host alongside George Stephanopoulos on Oct. 10, the day before the vice presidential debate.
Mrs. Romney will sit behind the anchor's desk during the 8 a.m. hour of the show while full-time co-host Robin Roberts recovers from a bone marrow transplant.
According to Zap2it, she will not stand with the crowds outside the GMA studios due to security reasons.
ABC News is also in discussion to have current First Lady Michelle Obama co-host before the election.
Is the one-day-only addition of Ann Romney a ratings ploy for GMA? Are you happy to see more Ann Curry on Today?
