Robert Plant, the lead vocalist and lyricist of Led Zeppelin, has officially quashed rumors that the British rock band will reportedly reunite this year for a 35-date concert tour.

He also denied reports that he turned down an $800 million offer from Virgin Group founder Richard Branson to reorganize the band and do reunion shows, the Huffington Post said.

"Robert Plant has not been in receipt of any offers in recent months with any organization or promoters regarding future Led Zep live shows," said Plant's representative in a statement.

To officially clear the air on the supposed lucrative offer made by Branson to Plant, the representative said: "Plant has neither met nor communicated with Richard Branson in the last 50 years, so it was with great surprise to see this reported in the press."

For his part, Branson cited in a blog that he was 'dazed and confused' by the reports that he offered the band £500 million ($800 million) to reunite and perform again, reports CBS News.

("Dazed and Confused" is one of the more popular songs of Led Zeppelin.)

"As much as I love the band, there is absolutely no truth to the story," Branson wrote on his blog posted on November 11.

CBS News recalled that Led Zeppelin disbanded after drummer John Bonham passed away in 1980.

The last time that the remaining Led Zep original members composed of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones, were seen performing together was in 2007, added the report.

"Robert Plant is excited and proud of their most recent remastered releases and disappointed with any confusion (that) this current fabricated story may bring," the representative of the Led Zep lead vocalist said.

Golden God

When Led Zep disbanded, Robert Plant continued with his solo music career, which earned for him the moniker "Golden God" of the music industry, notes CBS News in a September 22 article.

"Robert Plant has defined how to look and sound like a rock star in a musical journey that spans more than four decades," describes the report.

Plant's raw and raspy voice has become the hallmark of Led Zeppelin songs and was obviously instrumental in enabling the band to hit superstardom in the 70s, details CBS News.

The former Led Zep vocalist has released his 10th solo album in September titled "Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar" which "weaves world of music with blues, bluegrass, and a lifetime adventure," points out the report.
