A man earned criticism and complaints from his neighborhood in Boca Ratón, Florida, after he hoisted a flag as a member of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan, saying that he will completely ignore comment and condemnations that demand that he removes the flag from his property.
The man, identified only as Mr. K. Hayes by the ABC, hoisted his racist flag on Tuesday night, but warned that on Wednesday morning he would hoist it back up again, comparing his decision to the freedom with which other neighbors hoist their Puerto Rican flags, families that like him are proud of their origins.
The neighbors of Boca Ratón have expressed their inconformity over the message a Knight Party of the Ku Klux Klan flag might send to the community.
"We do not want you here. We are the only ones that can be here, that's the kind of message this is sending to all of us," said a woman quoted by NBC.
The man insisted that he has the right to express his beliefs and postures within his own private property, appealing to the legal ruling of the community; however, the neighbors insist that a flag representing him as a member of the Knights Party of the Ku Klux Klan sends messages of hate, violence and racism to the community.
"What's wrong with you? I have been here for over 32 years. You do not belong here!" shouted a neighbor named Susan Wantz, quoted by the CBS' local affiliate.
