As a result of an expanded partnership between Amazon and NBC, several of the studio's TV series are now available on Amazon Prime Instant Video Service. The induction of such TV shows as "Battlestar Galactica," "Heroes," "Parenthood," Friday Night Lights," and "Parks and Recreation" to Amazon's service comes on the heel of a 40% year-to-date rise in Amazon's stock.
Prime offers free two-day shipping on Amazon's own stock of items to customers who opt to pay the $79 yearly fee. The service currently provides 22,000 motives and TV episodes to users.
Amazon shares gained 2.3% to $246.70 on Friday. Amazon's rise in shares is by no small coincidence fueled by the mounting excitement for the Kindle Fire 2, which is expected to be officially announced on the company's September 6th press conference.
Rumors point to three Kindle Fire 2 models, a 7-inch, an 8.9 inch, and a 10 inch version. Additionally, the device is said to include a HDMI-out port, front-facing camera, and a microUSB port. Sources say that the e-reader will display at a 1280 x 800 resolution, and will now have a metal casing around its body.
Amazon's shares are currently at an all-time high, inflating the value of the successful company as it gears up to take on the iPad Mini.
The iPad mini will reportedly release at a competitive price point to the Kindle Fire 2 in an attempt to wrangle the budget tablet market from its hands.
