Just days after accusing Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig of trying to railroad him out of Mayor League Baseball in a lawsuit , Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez was spotted enjoying a day out in the sun on a private yacht in Flordia.
A-Rod was photographed around Miami Harbor with his two young daughters, Ella, 4, and Natasha, 9, and girlfriend Torrie Wilson, reports the New York Daily News. [See photos.] Despite his circumstances, he seemed calm and cool as he layed out in the sun to catch a tan on the front deck of a 39-foot Midnight Express boat as Wilson, his kids and others enjoyed the day out on the sea and a private pilot operated the luxury watercraft.
Wearing sunglasses and a "In Jesus Name I Play" band on his left wrist, the 38-year-old third baseman didn't look too stressed out over being absent from the Yankees' postseason for the first time since 2008.
The M.L.B. investigation concluded with the league suspending Rodriguez for 211 games back in August. Rodriguez appealed, which led to the arbitration hearing last week at the league offices on Park Avenue over whether he should serve his ban for doping.
On Thursday, the troubled MLB star filed a lawsuit in the New York Supreme Court charging Selig was engaging in "vigilante justice" to destroy his reputation and career.
In his suit, Rodriquez accused Selig and other MLB officials of engaging in unethical and criminal behavior against him to "gloss over" their past inaction and tacit approval of performance-enhancing drugs in baseball.
The court papers claim MLB officials conducted a "witch hunt" against Rodriguez to secure Selig's legacy as the "savior" of baseball.
On Friday, the MLB responded, calling the suit a "desperate attempt" to circumvent the league's appeals procedure.
