Ryan Reynolds will not return for a sequel to the "Green Lantern."

During an appearance on the "Yes/ No Show" for MTV, Reynolds was asked about buying the domain to greenlanternsequel.com. The actor immediately said, "I don't think you can sell that to anyone."

The reason for Reynolds' answer isn't difficult to figure out. The first "Green Lantern" film released in 2011 was panned by critics and bombed at the box office. The film scored a 26 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes, with crtics calling it a "Noisy, overproduced, and thinly written," film that "squander[ed] an impressive budget and decades of comics mythology." The film had a $200 million budget, but only made $116 million domestically. Back in 2011, Warner Bros. had plans for a sequel, hoping the film would catch on like the Batman reboot. However, after the financial and ciritcal disaster that emerged, the studio cancelled all plans.

The studio is now working on making a Justice League film that will most likely include Green Lantern. However, Reynolds has not spoken about returning to play the character.

Reynolds is currently promoting his latest film, "R.I.P.D," with co-star Jeff Bridges. The film opens this weekend and has also been met with unfavorable press, with critics stating, "It's not funny. It's not exciting. It's not engaging. It's a waste of time and money. Having seen it, I can understand why it was hidden from critics. The disappointment is that it wasn't hidden from everyone else as well."

The actor recently starred in "Buried" and "The Proposal." He was also seen in "The Change-Up," "Safe House," "Ted," and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Reynolds also voiced several animated films including "Turbo," and "The Croods." He will next be seen in "The Voices," "Queen of the Night," and "Mississippi Grind" with Ben Mendelssohn.
