In a move that has disappointed millions of gamers worldwide, Rockstar Games recently announced that Grand Theft Auto 5's release would be delayed until Sept. 17, 2013, rather than coming out in the spring. In light of the delay, it seems that the unveiling of the official box art has also been postponed, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick comments about seeing Grand Theft Auto 5 on next-gen consoles such as the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4.

Many were expecting Rockstar to reveal Grand Theft Auto 5's box art by the end of January, but in the same post explaining that the game would be delayed, Rockstar also had this to say:

"For those of you asking about the official box art, that will be coming out a bit later as well."

There's no word on when Rockstar plans on showing off another trailer, or Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer, but given the fact that there's seven months until its release, the details could trickle out slowly.

A September release date means that Grand Theft Auto 5 will be coming out shortly before the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 next-gen gaming consoles are expected to debut. This has led some to believe that Grand Theft Auto 5 might potentially release on the newer systems as well. In a recent earnings call with investors, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on those claims.

"There is not one gamer who is going to sit out of GTA V hoping that something that is going to come along down the road that's better. It's going to blow everyone away, and it's going to be in the market in September."

Nothing solid, but Zelnick did also mention that they have a number of games in the "pipeline" and that they are very well prepared to meet the next generation of gaming head on with all their original content.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently slated to release on only the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and although there is a great demand for a PC version, Rockstar has yet to confirm one.
