The tablet that can replace your laptop is having its fourth version.
Surface Pro 4, the latest form of Microsoft's high-end hybrid laptop tablet commonly tagged as "laplet" is reportedly in the making and is rumored to be looking for an October 2015 release date, PPP Focus has learned.
According to the report, the Surface Pro 4 will see a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3, which has been released over a year ago. Surface Pro 4 is said to be powered by Windows 10 with an i5 or i7 Intel Core processors and an internal storage that will range from 64 GB to 256 GB. Moreover, it is also rumored to have a watch-type hinge that removes the need for a cover or stand.
Tech Radar notes in an earlier report that the device is expected to come with Intel's Core M 'Broadwell' CPU together with a design that has small holes in the casing, allowing heat radiation and dissipation, while, at the same time, making it thinner with lesz generated noise than the Surface Pro 3, but still maintaining the 2,160 x 1,440 pixel resolution display.
Furthermore, Tech Radar also cites that the new form of Surface Pro may come with new accessories especially with Microsoft's acquisition of N-Trig, a company headquartered in Israel, who is behind the tablet's pressure-sensitive stylus. This makes sense with the current news that the stylus for Surface Pro 4 has been made as an additional accessory and can be purchased separately.
The biggest news, however, according to PPP Focus, is that the Surface Pro 4 will be cheaper than the previous Surface Pro series while also having a longer battery life of approximately five to seven hours, faster than its predecessor. Not to mention that it will also provide all the benefits of a tablet.
PPP Focus also adds that Microsoft's possible flagship device is in talks of having a 10-inch and 13-inch variant with available boost and improved graphic drivers.
Known for its lightness, sharp display and excellent handwriting capabilities as emphasized by Tech Radar, the Surface Pro series has seen substantial improvement in each of its version. Although there have been issues in battery life as well as concerns about it becoming uncomfortably warm under use, there are a lot of reasons to expect major improvements in the possible Surface Pro 4.
If Surface Pro 4 is released this October, then the tablet battle will surely be heated up. Apple has already released its new MacBook and Samsung is set to release its Galaxy Note 5. Will Microsoft give Apple and Samsung a run for their money? If the rumors are true, we shall find out soon.
