There are rumors that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will finally be unveiled in October 2015. The new laptop and tablet will reportedly come with more advanced features and specs compared to its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3.
More reports about the release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 began to surface after the Surface Pro 3, which was released in June 2014, was taken out of the Microsoft Store listing. Discounts amounting up to $150 have also been given for other Surface Pro 3 models, which may indicate that the company is preparing to launch the next generation of tablets very soon.
PC Advisor reported that the Surface Pro 4 model will most likely showcase the new Windows 10 operating system and will run on either the Intel Core M Broadwell fifth-generation or the Skylake sixth-generation range of processors. The new device will also most likely have a price range of anywhere between $799 and $2,499. The product might have two screen options – 12 inches and 14 inches with a resolution of 2160 x 1440. It may also present the new biometric authentication system of the Windows. There will most likely be a RAM upgrade of up to 16GB for the most powerful model. The Surface Pro 4 might have an internal memory of 256GB up to 1TB.
Christian Post wrote that insider information revealed that Microsoft has allegedly scheduled the mass shipment of 256GB SSDs in September 2015 to prepare for the launch of the Surface Pro a month later. The SSDs are from Samsung and will become an integral component of the upcoming product.
Microsoft wanted the Surface Pro to be the perfect tablet that will replace laptops. The Surface Pro 3 presented several good specifications and features such as being lightweight at 800 grams, running on fourth-generation Intel processors with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM and having other capabilities and components like a functional keyboard, Surface Pen and touch mechanisms. There may also be face recognition support via the Intel RealSense 3D camera. It also ran on Windows 8.1 OS.
Microsoft has not made any official confirmation regarding the specifications of the Surface Pro 4, so all the speculation should be taken lightly until further notice. Regardless of the processor that will be featured in the new tablet, it is expected to be quieter, fanless and made to provide efficient heat radiation and dissipation. Battery life is said to have been enhanced to 10.5 hours.
More news and details about the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 are expected in the following weeks.
