The Samsung Galaxy S3 has received positive reviews and has sold more units in September, but Nokia is hoping to take some of the spotlight with their Lumia 820.
The latest Lumia smartphone is scheduled to be released in November and will be exclusive to AT&T.
But what are the differences of the two devices?
Dimensions:
The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a length of 136.6mm, width of 70.6mm, and a depth of 8.6mm.
For the Lumia 820, the length measures in 123.8mm, width of 68.5mm, and a 9.9 depth.
The Lumia 820 weighs more than the Galaxy S3 with 160g against 133g.
Screen:
The Samsung device features a Super AMOLED HD display with a screen size of 4.8-inches, 1,280x720 pixel resolution, and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection.
The Lumia 820 features the Nokia ClearBlack display, an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 4.3-inches, and a pixel resolution of 800x480.
Memory:
The Galaxy S3 has variety when it comes to the internal memory. The device is offered in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants.
The Lumia 820 is 8GB exclusive.
Both devices have 1GB of RAM and offer a microSD card slot for up 64GB on the Galaxy S3 but up to 32GB for the Lumia 820.
Wireless Connectivity:
The Galaxy S3 features Bluetooth version 4.0, Near Field Communication (NFC), Wi-Fi- hotspot, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and Wi-Fi Direct.
The Lumia 820 also has NFC, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, but starts with the 3.1 version of Bluetooth.
Camera:
The Lumia 820's rear-facing camera has eight-megapixels with a pixel resolution of 3,264x2,448, dual LED flash, autofocus, and a Carl Zeiss Tessar.
The rear-facing camera of the Galaxy S3 has the same number of megapixels and resolution as the Lumia 820.
However, the front-facing camera for the Galaxy S3 has 1.9-megapixels while the Lumia 820 has VGA, which equals to 640x480 pixels.
Operating System:
The Galaxy S3 has the Android operating system (OS)) version 4.0.4, also known the Ice Cream Sandwich. An update is scheduled, known as the Jelly Bean.
The Lumia 820 will be among the first smartphones in the US to have Microsoft Windows Phone 8.
Battery Time:
The Galaxy S3 has a standard battery with 2,100mAh. When it comes to its standby time, it can go up to 790 hours in 3G and 11 hours and 40 minutes for talk time.
The Lumia 820 also has a standard battery but at 1,650mAh. When it comes to standby time, it can go up to 330 hours in 3G and a talk time of up to eight hours.
Colors:
The Galaxy S3 is available in black, blue, brown, gray, red, and white.
The Lumia 820 offers similar colors with black, blue, gray, red, and white, but also violet and yellow.
