The USA continues their quest to qualify for the 2014 World Cup when they take on Jamaica in their third match of the qualifying round.
The US got started with an unimpressive 3-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda who looked more dangerous than the Americans throughout the match. They followed that performance with a dismal one againt Guatemala who tied them at one with just nine minutes remaining. This US squad beat Mexico a few weeks ago, but must come up with a heroic effort against a Jamaica team who defeated Guatemala comfortably, but tied against Antigua and Barbuda.
The US will rely heavily on Clint Dempsey who is their best player and continues to be the catalyst that makes them click. He was not around for the match against Mexico, but he has been a major contributor in qualifying for the Cup. Dempsey has scored two of the US's four goals during the two matches, including one on a penalty shot.
Jamaica has Ryan Johnson who has been in the MLS since 2006 and is well acquainted with the American game. He scored one of Jamaica's two goals in qualifying and will be instrumental if they have hopes of beating the Americans.
However, Jamaica's biggest asset is their speed. Swift players such as Dane Richards and Darren Mattocks could cause problems for the US's fragile defense who lack that same level of quickness throughout the lineup.
If the US wins, they vault themselves into first place in Group A with 7 points. A loss puts them at the mercy of the other match taking place between Guatemala and Antigua and Barbuda. A tie keeps Jamaica and the US tied for first in the group.
The match starts at 8 p.m and will take place at the Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
Prediction: The US will win 2-1, but it will be a stressful match for US fans as Jamaica will score the first goal and give them a scare.
