Brazil will take on Mexico in Saturday's Gold Medal Match at the Olympics after an emphatic 3-0 win over Korea Republic.
After a mediocre display against Honduras, the Samba Kings woke up with another three goal explosion and a defensive display that was unlike any seen from them thus far.
The Samba Kings shut down the Koreans with imposing display of attack and pressure, leaving the Koreans looking dazed and confused throughout the match.
Korea came out storming in the opening 20 minutes when they generated a series of chances that could have put them ahead. On one play Kim Hyunsung lobbed a shot over an out of position keeper Gabriel who saw the ball stopped by Juan Jesus.
Brazil eventually woke up and delivered an impressive goal on the counterattack when Santro took the ball in the midfield and got it to Oscar who eventually found Romulo. Romulo deposited the ball into the net and gave Brazil a 1-0 lead seven minutes form half-time.
The goal would be all they needed because after that Korea looked overwhelmed and Brazil eventually took a 2-0 lead on a mad scramble in the box. Neymar took the ball on the left side and passed in back into the middle. It eluded a few defenders and eventually found Leandro Damiao who added his fifth goal of the tournament at the 56 minute mark. He would add his tournament leading sixth just eight minutes later when Neymar got the ball to Oscar in the box. A Korean defender attempted to kick it away, but the clear was poor and Damiao poked it in to give Brazil its fifth straight three goal game.
Now the Selecao gets to turn its attention to Mexico and its first chance at winning a gold medal. Mexico has never won a medal in the soccer tournament and will also be hungry to enter the Olympic Pantheon.
