The PlayStation 4 is inching closer to the Nov. 15 release date for the console, and Sony is preparing those who preordered the device with new information concerning the day one update the console will have in addition to detailing the digital sharing policy for the PlayStation 4 and when the PlayStation 4 app will be released on iOS and Android devices.
Gamespot is reporting that the day one update for the PlayStation 4 will bring the console to version 1.50 and will be 300MB in size. This update will bring many different features to the console, such as Remote Play and second screen functionality through the PS4 Link application that will make it possible to link the console to the Vita as well as iOS and Android devices. This update also adds facial recognition and voice command features if users have the PlayStation Camera. Finally, support for Ustream, Twitch, PlayGo, a background music player, party voice chat, and online multiplayer.
With this update users will be able to use the PlayStation 4 app, but IGN is reporting that the app will not be able to download the app on iOS and Android devices until Nov. 22. This app will allow for some second screen functionality for games, as well as giving players the ability to check on their PlayStation Network profile. Players can check on their friend's progress on the game and send them messages on the fly.
In addition to these mobile features that will be available for the PlayStation 4, users will be able to share their digital games with friends through a sharing system which Sony has detailed in a new FAQ post. Players can register their PlayStation 4 as their primary console, which means that this will be their default console for sharing. other users on this PlayStation will be able to enjoy any and all downloaded titles on this PlayStation 4. If players want to play their games on a different PlayStation 4, all they need to do is log in to their account and they can begin playing their downloaded titles on the new console. And of course sharing disk-based games on the PlayStation 4 is as simply as giving the game to a friend and starting it up, and Sony is not adding usage fees for used games for the PlayStation 4.
