As the PlayStation 4 quickly approaches its Nov. 15 release date one of the biggest publishers in gaming has announced a renewed partnership with Sony to deliver content to the console. EA Labels President Frank Gibeau informed the Edge about "tactical programmes" between EA and Sony for the PlayStation 4:

"We're not tilting Microsoft's way; we are firm longterm supporters of Sony...I'm sure you'll see tactical programmes between us and Sony in the future that we haven't announced, but will make things much more balanced."

Gibeau's interview was in response to criticism that EA was favoring the Xbox One due to the fact that the console will get exclusives such as Titanfall and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and the publisher giving away free copies of FIFA 14 to European Xbox One pre-order customers.

Gibeau went on to praise Sony and Microsoft, and revealed his feelings about the pre-launch strategies for both console manufacturers in the months before the launch of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One:

"I think the Sony team has executed exceptionally well - and they did not execute particularly well on PS3, whereas last time around Microsoft executed perfectly. This time, Microsoft has run into some challenges, some leadership changes, but they're a very resilient organization, and if you look at their counter punches on any setbacks, they've done a pretty good job of getting back on track."

Meanwhile, Sony announced to Kotaku that PlayStation 4 owners will be able to use their real names online. This feature will be available at launch, and it is not mandatory, meaning players can import their previous username from the PlayStation 3 or create a new name.

This feature separates the PlayStation 4 from the Xbox One, as at launch the Xbox One will not allow users to play online using their own name. This may become a potentially controversial move. Having a user's actual name made available in public may lead to harassment or cyber bullying. Perhaps Sony will implement age restrictions to prevent minors from using their real name on the PlayStation 4 to avoid harassment or cyber stalking.
