The recent news that the games Watch Dogs and Driveclub will be delayed in 2014 has affected thousands of gamers who expected to play the games this November, especially those hoping to snag the game as part of the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One launch lineup. Though Watch Dogs is set to appear on both consoles, Driveclub is a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Now, a report from Kotaku indicates that retailer Target is cancelling pre-order bundles for the PlayStation 4 that included these games.

This is huge news, as Target is cancelling peoples pre-orders (some of which may have been in place since June) just because the two games were canceled. It is unclear if Xbox One owners are being affected by this, as it seems as though only PlayStation 4 bundles with Watch Dogs or Driveclub are being canceled by the big box store.

Not only have these fans' bundles been cancelled, but Target seems to be doing very little to make up for this slight. Target is not offering any sort of compensation for the loss of their consoles, but stated that their only chance to get back their pre-order is during a first come, first serve re-opening of pre-order on October 25. This is pretty insulting considering that nobody saw these delays coming and it happened less than a month before the PlayStation 4 was set to launch on November 15.

Other retailers who were offering Driveclub and Watch Dogs have offered different strategies besides outright cancelling the preorder entirely. For example, Amazon.com, upon hearing that Watch Dogs was going to delayed until 2014, has revealed that they will honor the previous preorders for the console. However, these previous preorder bundles have been switched just to a PlayStation 4 without a game attached to the console at the standard $399 price tag.

No word from Target as to the logic behind this snafu, and it is unclear how many gamers will lose their PlayStation 4 because of the delays to Watch Dogs and Driveclub. Both games are expected in the first quarter of the 2014 financial year, meaning that the earliest gamers should expect the games will be around April of next year.

Look out for more news about Watch Dogs, Driveclub and the PlayStation 4 as gamers gear up for the next gen console's launch and the two delayed games get overhauled in the coming months.
