Diablo 3 has been one of the biggest PC games to come out recently, and the ports to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have also been very well received by critics and fans alike. The game's first expansion, Reaper of Souls was announced in August, but the expansion was only confirmed for the PC version of the game. Now, Gamespot is reporting that the expansion will appear on the PlayStation 4 version of the game, and that the expansion will be playable at Blizzcon 2013 Nov. 8-9.
The demo available to fans at Blizzcon will allow users to try out both the single player portion of Reaper of Souls, in addition to the same screen co-op mode that the game will have. The expansion will introduce a new class to the game, the Crusader; however, the demo will not have access to this new class and will have to choose from the five original classes in Diablo 3.
The demo of the PlayStation 4 version of Reaper of Souls will allow users to experience some of the unique features found within that version of the game. In particular, the share button and touchpad features of the game will be available for fans attending Blizzcon to explore and see how they affect the game overall.
Reaper of Souls will add several new features to the game, while tweaking some of the mechanics for the game. In addition to the new Crusader class of character, the level cap for the game will be raised to level 70. The Crusader class is inspired by the Paladin in previous entries in the series and will have some similar qualities. The expansion will also give existing classes new skills, passive abilities and runes.
The loot system of Reaper of Souls has been revamped. The amount of loot players will receive will be reduced, but when loot is given to players it will be of higher quality than the loot dropped before the expansion. This reduces the amount of vender fodder players receive and make loot drops much more meaningful.
While these features are welcome, it is unknown if Reaper of Souls will be available for the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360 version of Diablo 3. In addition, though Diablo 3 and now Reaper of Souls have been confirmed for the PlayStation 4, no word has come concerning if the game will be ported to the Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 version of the game will be out sometime in 2014.
