The Legend of Zelda series has become quite active recently, with the release of the Wind Waker HD Remake for the Wii U, the upcoming A Link Between Worlds 3DS game coming on Nov. 22, and the constant rumors concerning the untitled Wii U Zelda game in the works. Now, another set of rumors have emerged concerning a remake of the Nintendo 64 classic Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
The rumor comes from the series producer himself, Eiji Aonuma, who recently participated in a Facebook Q&A session. After the session was complete the producer dropped an interesting bit of information linking Majora's Mask and A Link Between Worlds:
"I see many of you have been asking about a remake of Majora's Mask for Nintendo 3DS. It's nice to see such a strong response to this title and we haven't forgotten about Link's adventures in that world. If you play A Link Between Worlds, you may better understand what I mean by that."
Perhaps this means that Nintendo plans to have the games linked together in some way and that the games could be on the same timeline for the series. Another possibility is some sort of cameo appearance by a character that could show that the games take place in the timeline or just act as a teaser for a future remake for Majora's Mask.
Aonuma also went into some details about the main villain for the game, Yuga. The producer talked about the origins of the character's name and the possible origin for the villain:
"The name 'Yuga' is derived from the Japanese word for oil paintings because he has the ability to use magic to turn people into paintings. We wanted the character concept to be a crazed artist and so we made him into an unusual character where you can't quite tell if he is supposed to be male or female. He might be close to Ghirahim from Skyward Sword in terms of having an over inflated self-importance."
Fans asked what weapon Aonuma feels is the best to upgrade. He revealed his personal pick is a stable from the series:
"I would recommend the bow. When you upgrade the bow you can fire 3 arrows at once and they spread out in a fan shape so it's far easier to hit enemies than with a single arrow like normal. However, since you are firing 3 arrows at once it will use up more of your energy gauge. So be careful because if you get carried away and keep on firing too much, after a while you won't be able to fire any more."
