The Legend of Zelda is one of the most popular Nintendo franchises of all time, rivaling the face of the company, Mario, in terms of how much fans love the series. Nintendo announced earlier in the year both the remake of the Gamecube classic The Wind Waker, as well as a brand new game that will serve as a sequel on the 3DS of the classic Link to the Past. Now, Nintendo has given both games a release date for fans to look forward to.

The Wind Waker HD Remake will be available on October 4 on the Wii U according to IGN. The game will feature several tweaks to the game to streamline the experience, as well as a harder difficulty settings for veterans of the series to enjoy. In addition, Nintendo has announced a special Legend of Zelda Wii U bundle that will be released before the game is out on September 20. The bundle will include a 32GB Wii U, a special edition Gamepad customized with a Legend of Zelda theme, and a download code for both the Wind Waker remake and the Hyrule Historia book. This means that those who buy the new bundle early enough can play The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD weeks before it is available in store shelves.

Meanwhile, the 3DS title The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will be out on November 22 according to Gamespot. The game has the suggested retail price of $40. This new handheld adventure features a new gameplay mechanic in which users are able to make Link two dimensional, enabling the hero to slide across walls. This new mechanic will be a major part of the game, and hopefully Nintendo can make the game a worthy sequel to what many consider the greatest game of all time.

Interested fans can try the game out on the recently announced Nintendo 2DS, the new handheld designed to appeal to younger gamers. The device may not be able to use 3D features, but can play 3DS games such as A Link Between Worlds. The device will be available on October 12 for $130, meaning that adult gamers wishing to show their children the wonders of Hyrule can pick up the new handheld and introduce a new generation to the franchise.

Look out for more news about the Wind Waker HD remake and A Link Between Worlds as both games prepare for release.
