Grand Theft Auto 5's online mode is finally gaining some traction after a rough Oct 1 launch that saw the mode experience huge technical issues that still linger. For those who have waited in hopes that Rockstar has cleaned up the mode, here is a guide for the character creation for the game, along with what happens to those who break the rules playing the game.
Instead of picking each characteristic for a customized character in Grand Theft Auto Online, players pick the heritage for their character. Players pick the grandparents for their character, and there is a sliding bar that determines if the character will take after the grandfather or grandmother more. This will change the various physical characteristics for the players, including race, features, and body type.
After determining the heritage of the created character, players will be able to applicable the stats for the new character in a unique system. The stats of a character are changed based on the hours spent on daily activities the player chooses. Each player gets 24 hours to distribute over 12 different activities, and these will determine the initial stats for the character. The only mandatory activity that players must invest points in is sleep, which requires that players put in at least four hours in the stat. Other stats players can invest in include family and friends, playing sports & working out, doing legal work, sitting on the couch, partying, and doing illegal work. Each activity increases at least one stat, while every activity (except sleep) decreases at least one stat as well, so players must determine their priorities when distributing their 24 hours.
These activities will further shape how the character will look, as investing in physical activities will make the character be in better looking shape. This process will also change the starting clothes for the character. This is also the screen in which the player can change the gender of the character if they so choose to.
Once players get into the world of Grand Theft Auto 5 online, they must take care to avoid being labeled a Bad Sport. If players act in malicious ways towards others, such as wrecking another player's car or dropping out of a job, they will be labeled as a Bad Sport. These players will be forced to play with other Bad Sports for a period of time, and some even get a dunce cap put on their character for breaking the code of conduct.
