Grand Theft Auto 5 is suffering from some problems stemming from players trying to install the game and facing texture and pop-up issues. This issue has been reported on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
According to IGN and Reddit users, both the physical copy of the game for the Xbox 360 and the digital copy for the PlayStation 3 suffer from the same issues. Rockstar Games originally reported that those with Xbox 360 version should not install the disc on the hard drive, and only install the mandatory install disc rather than the play disc. However, users can reportedly solve this problem by installing the game on a USB drive rather than the hard drive of the Xbox 360.
Reddit users are facing a similar issue for the digital copy of the game on the PlayStation 3 version, but do not have any sort of solution available currently. One user describes the problem as exactly the same issues reported for the Xbox 360:
"Texture/geometry pop-in at the exact same spots as that 360 video - fence at the pier, plants round the baywatch house(?), etc. Also has very noticeable aliasing, but not sure if that's better on the 360."
To add to the problems, the game's companion app and the Rockstar Social Club are also reportedly dealing with their own technical problems. Rockstar's support page states that the developer is working on fixing the bugs, which are causing some data concerning the game's crews to not update properly, and Snapmatic photos not uploading on the site. Rockstar will inform users signed up for automatic email updates when these issues will be fixed.
Finally, Rockstar is reporting that the iFruit app available on iTunes is facing it's own problems. Rockstar states that the app is suffering from "login errors, endless loading spinners, and the app appearing to reset data." The company is working to fix these errors, but considering the major issues the main game is facing, the companion app will probably take a backseat for now.
