Grand Theft Auto 5 was released on Sept. 17 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but thousands of fans are disappointed the game won't be available on the PC at the same time. Some are so frustrated they started an online petition to try to convince Rockstar to port the game to PC, and so far, hundreds of thousands have signed—as of the game's release, 400,000.

Started on petition website Change.org, so far the petition has amassed an amazing 408,000 signatures. By signing the petition, users are asking Rockstar Games to bring the game to PC and open up the possibility of modding the game. As the petition states:

"Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have."

Last year the cofounder of Rockstar Games Dan Houser told Gamespot that the developer was considering Wii U and PC versions of the game for release, but so far, it appears Rockstar is focused on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. While rumors have cropped up about Grand Theft Auto 5's release on PC, these rumors have been confirmed as false.

One factor that may have prevented the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 from being released is the fact that the game, being so massive, has forced Rockstar to focus on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 iterations rather than bringing the game to new platforms. After all, the game was shipped without the online portion available (Grand Theft Auto 5 Online will be available on Oct. 1), so Rockstar must have been busy launching console versions of Grand Theft Auto 5.

Grand Theft Auto 5 may eventually be released on PC, but gamers will have to content themselves with the console version of the game as they begin to explore Los Santos and get ready for the online portion.
