Apple iPhone 5C vs Moto X: Release Date, Price, Specs, Features Compared

The Apple iPhone 5C is one of the newest and most exciting mobile devices of the year, and when the smartphone launches on Sept. 20, hordes of tech fans will line up to pick up the device. Some have compared the iPhone 5C with the Motorola Moto X, which makes sense. Both are discounted smartphones that are very customizable, but still manage to pack a decent punch in terms of specs. The Motorola Moto X will come in a variety of colors on the backplate, volume buttons, and even the headphone jack, but currently only AT&T customers are able to use these color options. Everyone else can only get the device in black and white for now. The 5C will come in five different colors, according to Apple (white, yellow, green, pink, and blue), and users can buy a case for the phone (sold separately) in a variety of color options and patterns. The Moto X is available with 16GB for $199 and a two year contract, and a 32GB model is available for $249. The iPhone 5C also has a 16GB and 32GB model, but the 16GB model will cost $99 and the 32GB will cost $199 also with a two year contract. The 5C will be carried by AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint, while the Moto X will be available on all those providers as well as U.S Cellular.

The specs for both smartphones are fairly strong. The iPhone 5C will have an Apple A6 chip set, while the Moto X will have dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro running at 1.7 GHz. The 5C will have a 4-inch display capable of an 1136-by-640 pixel resolution, while the Moto X will have a 4.7-inch display capable of 720p resolution. Interestingly enough, both phones can record 1080p videos despite being unable to reach that resolution on their displays.

Both smartphones offer something unique to users, and are worthy pickups for users looking to update their smartphones.
