Fans of The Legend of Zelda series have a cornucopia of new Zelda titles to look forward to. In addition to a HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendo is also developing a sequel to A Link To The Past on the 3DS, as well as a brand-new game in the series for the Wii U. Eiji Aonuma, speaking to Edge magazine, and reported on by ONM, revealed that he expects A Link to the Past 2 and the untitled Wii U Zelda game to surprise people:
"I think the new additions will make players see the game in a different way...And, of course, we'll introduce even more unexpected elements in the Zelda game that we're making for Wii U."
Fans already know that A Link to the Past 2 will feature some brand-new gameplay elements. Players will get the ability to become a flat figure on walls, and slide across the walls like a living painting. This ability was inspired by a level in Ocarina of Time, in which Phantom Ganon is able to jump into six identical paintings in the game's Forest Temple.
It is unknown what exactly the new twist to the Legend of Zelda formula will be. Hopefully, Nintendo will replicate the success of the Dark World seen in the original Link to the Past, and not a dud like traveling by train in the handheld Spirit Tracks. The new Wii U Zelda title, The Wind Waker remake, and Link to the Past 2 are all expected at E3 in one form or another. Nintendo is forgoing the traditional E3 press conferences of the past, to instead hold a Nintendo Direct during the last day of E3 on June 11. This way Nintendo will send the latest information about their plans for the year directly to Nintendo fans.
