Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's final piece of DLC, the Apocalypse map pack, is available today for Xbox 360 owners only, and Treyarch has released a gameplay video to further hype the DLC.
The gameplay video shows off the four new maps that come with the latest DLC, along with the new Origins zombie mode that also comes with the DLC. Dig takes place in a town with various relics being excavated, offering players several different cover options to explore. Frost takes place in a frozen seaside town, where players can fight block by block using houses and walls as cover. Takeoff has players transported to a shuttle launch area, and players can fight inside of a welcome center or around the launch pad of a futuristic rocket. Finally, the last map, Pod, is set in a rundown area where shelter can be found in the odd housing units within the map. All four maps have a fairly unique look to them, and should provide fans some fun new matches to play around with before the release of Call of Duty: Ghosts in November.
However, the big focus of the video is of the Origins zombie mode, which gives players the chance to meet the original four heroes of the very first zombie mode map. The mode is set in an alternate version of France during World War One, and users can use their normal weapons and gadgets with a more dieselpunk aesthetic. Origins follows the usual dreary style of previous zombie modes, with thunder and lightning frequently announcing their presence as players trudge through the mud at night. Players can ride on top of a tank and get mystical looking weapons to blast zombies with. These new weapons will come in handy when dealing with hordes of zombies, along with giant robotic warriors that will randomly appear. These robots look like Big Daddy's from the Bioshock franchise. Of course, these man sized robots are small potatoes compared to the giant robots stomping around the battlefield that can squash humans and zombies alike.
Overall, the newest and last DLC map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 looks impressive, and should be a worthy ending to the game. While PlayStation 3 and PC owners will have to wait about a month to get their hands on the DLC, Xbox 360 owners can download the DLC today and enjoy the last hurrah for Black Ops 2.
