Borderlands 2 DLC News: Level Cap Coming Next Week, Game of the Year Edition Leaked?

Borderlands 2 has been a smash hit for developer Gearbox, and the company has frequently delivered DLC to fans of the game over the course of the game's life. Now, even though the game's season pass has run its course, Gearbox is readying to deliver more DLC into the game in the form of the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2, which will give players more missions and increases the level cap of the game. In addition, a Game of the Year Edition of the game has been leaked.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack 2 will be released on September 3, and will be available for $5, according to Digital Trends. This new DLC will increase the level cap of the game to level 72. The new DLC pack will also give players the Digistruct Peak Challenge, which features an hour long mission for players to test their skills on.

The new challenge lets players set the levels of enemies' way past normal levels, making it so players can fight enemies that are at level 80. However, the loot for defeating these enemies will also be wildly overpowered, so users can grab some serious guns from completing the challenge. Gearbox stated that the reason the so-called Overpower levels exist is to allow users to play Borderlands 2 at a higher level, without increasing the level cap of the game so high that players can max out the skill tree in the main portion of the game.

Borderlands 2 will also receive the Headhunter DLC packs by the end of the year.  These new missions will give players the chance to fight all new bosses in the game. The first Headhunter DLC, TK Baha's Bloody Harvest is due out near Halloween, with two other DLC packs coming by the end of the year.

Those who have fallen behind on buying the DLC for Borderlands 2 are in luck, as a source has leaked information to IGN about an alleged Game of the Year Edition of the game. The Game of the Year Edition will feature all four of the story-based DLC that was part of the season pass for the game (Captain Scarlet's And Her Pirate's Booty, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, Mister Torgue's Campaign Of Carnage, and Tiny Tina's Assault On Dragon Keep) along with the Psycho and Mechromancer character pack, the Creature Slaughter Dome, and the original Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack.
