Tim Tebow may have been rejected by the Jacksonville Jaguars, doubted by even the Canadian Football League and pushed to the side by Gang Green, but at least he has found a supporter in safety LeRon Landry who said that he would have "loved" to see the Jets backup "throw the ball a little bit more, to mix it up a little bit more."
Tebow certainly did not get anywhere close to throwing the ball even a little bit more, finishing the season with just six completions of eight passes for a whopping 39 yards and rushing 32 times for 102 yards.
"I thought it was going to be a little but more," Jets' Landry said about Tebow on ESPN's "First Take." "It came to a point where, "OK, Tim is going into the game, it's going to be a power.'"
Power runs or not, Tebow was even snubbed after Jets' quarterback Mark Sanchez was benched and third-stringer Greg McElroy was put on the field.
"When he came in the game, what'd y'all think? It was going to be a run, right?" the Pro Bowl safety said. "Yeah, every time."
The Jets organization ousted their general manager, offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator, while preserving head coach Rex Ryan.
And it seems as though Sanchez won't be leaving the team either.
"Yeah, I'm comfortable with Mark being a Jet," The Jets' new general manager John Idzik told WFAN's Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton. "I told him as well, we're going to add competition...It's going to help make Mark and everybody else better."
But Tebow will most likely be released if a trade can't be worked out--a hot topic circulating the rumor mill and securing Gang Green's seemingly perpetual spot in the media.
Landry, on the other hand, said that he will "hopefully" re-sign with the Jets.
"From the outside it may seem like a circus, but for the most part within, it was a family, a unit," Landry said.
