Tim Tebow News: Rumors of Trade to the Chicago Bears

Could the vagrant quarterback Tim Tebow wash-up on the Chicago Bears roster and oust Jay Cutler under new head coach Marc Trestman?

The new theory is fueled by the fact that Trestman mentored both quarterbacks, preparing Tebow for the NFL Draft in 2010 and Cutler in 2006.

And to further the idea, the former Montreal Alouettes coach had promising things to say about Tebow around the time of his draft.

"I don't know that I'm the only one who has the sense of Tim's ability to be developed and become a very good player in the league," Trestman said to the Canadian news source the Morning Journal. "I believe in the right environment, Tim Tebow will figure this out."

The right environment was obviously not with the Jets where Tebow had limited--to say the least--opportunities.

Or maybe the Chicago Bears, like a lot of New York Jets fans, will seek to banish any idea of Tebow from their thoughts like the Jacksonville Jaguars so explicitly did last week.  

But if you go by the statements Trestman made about Tebow back in 2010, it is clear that he had high hopes for the quarterback--at least more than Rex Ryan did. 

"He doesn't have explosive arm strength, but he has more than adequate arm strength to throw the ball in the NFL and make all the throws," Trestman told the Morning Journal in 2010. "I saw him do something totally different in seven or eight days. I can only imagine what he's going to do in one year or two years, because he's going to outwork everybody else and find a way to figure out."

Trestman is an NFL virgin but will most certainly get a taste of the howling media that surrounds the Tebow saga at his introductory press conference that has been slated for today--after all, what is a presser these days without the notion of Tebow?
