The Tim Tebow acquisition was New York Jets owner Woody Johnson's bright idea, right?

Well maybe not.

Johnson is now claiming that he was pressured into acquiring Tebow.

Former general manager candidate Ted Sundquist said that during an interview with Johnson and team president Neil Glat, Johnson said that the Tebow idea was "forced" on him-according to ESPN NewYork.

But that is interesting considering that back in August, Johnson was full of nice things to say about the quarterback that they are now looking to unload in the off-season.

"I think you can never have too much Tebow," Johnson said in an interview on CNBC.

Maybe he meant on the bench.

Rex Ryan certainly wanted nothing to do with the tarnished quarterback and Johnson wasn't into the idea, so he claims.

So that would leave the dismissed general manager Mike Tannenbaum to blame for the Tebow disaster.

But Sundquist said that Johnson told him that he eventually came around to the idea at one point and "jumped on board" with yet another classic Jets circus act. "They realized it was divisive and hard on the locker room, and they wanted an exit strategy," Sundquist said.

Well now the Jets are onto new general manager, and possibly Jets' future scapegoat, John Idzik. Idzik was welcomed to the Jets franchise after being with the Seattle Seahawks as their vice president of football administration.

Whether or not the new hire can handle such a mess of a team in such an obnoxious climate remains to be seen. But at least his mommy can vouch for him.

"He's apparently very good with the cap, but he likes to have his hand in football, too," his mother said. "He doesn't want to be excluded from being around the ballplayers." Hopefully, at least for the sake of Jets fans, mother knows best.
