Talk about a possible early Christmas treat!
New reports surfaced that the Samsung Galaxy S7 may hit the market as early as December rather than the reported March release as Samsung is expediting the process that will cut the release time by at least two months.
According to Korean Website AsiaToday, Samsung has been looking to change its whole development process, dropping the "Waterfall" method it uses and adapting the "Agile" system for the development of Galaxy S7 that will pave the way for an earlier market release.
The "Agile" system takes on a modular approach to the development process in which the creation of the whole device will be divided into parts, and each will be tested and completed individually. There is no logical development step in the "Agile" method and is not restricted to a step-by-step process. This places a lot of flexibility in the development as it is very easy to modify if changes are needed and not to mention that it is an overall speedy procedure unlike the 'Waterfall' system wherein after completing a certain stage, making adjustments and changes is very difficult and might lead to an overall change in the device.
A report by Android Headline back in June already cited that Samsung has been planning to release the Galaxy S7 in between September and March, emphasizing the common action made by Samsung of releasing its premium Phablet handset in September and its flagship device in March. This recent reports might give light to the possibility that the reports are indeed true.
All of this are mere speculations and rumors. There is no official confirmation from Samsung that they have been looking for the revamp in the process to speed things up. However, a report from Phone Arena pointed out that if the release is really made on December, it would be advantageous for Samsung as they will beat the likes of LG, Sony and HTC in the market before they launch their own flagship devices that will match the Galaxy S7.
The report further noted that earlier this year, Samsung stole the limelight in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona as it unveiled its Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Roughly two weeks from now, the Galaxy Note 5 will be hitting the market, an earlier release than its Galaxy Note predecessors.
The launching of Galaxy S7 is still in question. However, there is no wrong in hoping.
