Arsenal lost to Chelsea in their last Premier League match, but made up for it with a strong 3-1 win over Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League. Now they get a chance to get back on track against West Ham.
Gervinho has been tremendous for this squad and looked at his best in the UCL match as he scored the first goal and added an assist on the second off a relentless effort to get the ball to Lukas Podolski. He has five goals in as many games and is the key in this match against a squad that has shown a strong commitment to defense.
West Ham's offensive prowess is nowhere near Arsenal's, but they have found ways to scrape out wins over Aston Villa, Fulham, and the Queens Park Rangers. Andy Carroll may return to the lineup and if he does, Arsenal will be forced to restrain their aggressiveness and double up on the big man. The fact tha the Arsenal defense is injury plagued could give Carroll a major advantage and West Ham an outlet with which to cripple the Gunners.
This will be a highly defensive match and Arsenal will likely control the ball for most of the match.
Prediction: I like Arsenal, but they still seem vulnerable at times. 2-2 draw.
