Barcelona continued its strong play with a 2-0 win over Benfica in the second game of the Champions League and is now atop Group G.
Carles Puyol made his return for the squad after suffering an injury, but his return to the lineup was brief as a fall left him with a broken arm and he was taken off on a stretcher.
Barcelona got off to a great start when a Cesc Fabregas chipped found a breaking Lionel Messi on the left side of the goal. He threw the ball into the area and Alexis Sanchez tipped it on for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 lead at the 6 minute mark.
Barcelona looked tentative throughout the remainder of the half and Benfica got a ton of good opportunities including a wide open chance from Lima who shot it at keeper Victor Valdes rather than waiting for the shot.
Barcelona got insurance at the 55 minute mark when Messi threw a pass that Fabregas blasted in for his third goal in three days.
The other match in the group was rather shocking as Celtic came back from a 2-1 deficit to take down a dreadful Spartak Moscow side that is the worst squad in the group. Celtic took a 1-0 lead off 12th minute Gary Hooper goal before Moscow's Emmanuel Emenike score two straight goals just seven minutes apart. But then Moscow allowed an own goal off of Dmitry Kombarov and Georigias Samaras played hero with a 90th minute goal that has Celtic in second place in group G.
