Manchester United attempts to continue its hot start as they face off against rival Tottenham.
Manchester is coming off two strong wins. They beat Liverpool in a controversial win, but followed it up with a close 2-1 win over Newcastle in the Carling Cup. Manchester has looked good in the early going with new addition Robin Van Persie leading the team with five goals and looking like a worthy investment. The team's major controversy continues to be in goal where Sir Alex Ferguson has chosen to alternate his two main keepers. David De Gea played in the Newcastle match, but Andres Lindegaard has played the last two Premier League matches and is expected to start in this one against Tottenham. De Gea had the job locked up coming into the season, but inconsistency and mental gaffes have taken the position away from him.
Tottenham has not been off to such a bad start this season with 8 points to date. The club won its Carling Cup match over Carlisle United 3-0 and has won their last two Premier League matches thus far. The team has yet to lose a match this season, but Man U will be its greatest challenge to date. Like Man U, this team also has a major keeper controversy as Andre Villas-Boas has turned to 41 year old Brad Friedel as his number one man. However, Tottenham had just signed French International Keeper Hugo Lloris to 12 million Euros. But Lloris has not only been passed over for Friedel but even for third string keeper Carlo Cudicini. Whether AVB plans to ease the Frencman into the starting role remains to be seen, but it could be a distracting story until it is resolved.
Prediction: Tottenham has looked good, but they will be playing at the Old Trafford (where they haven't won since 1989) against the toughest competition to date. 2-0 Man U.
