The Lakers are now 1-5 in the NBA regular season.

The Los Angeles Lakers finally managed to overcome their losing streak by winning over the Charlotte Hornets on November 9, 2014 at the Staples Center. Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin scored 21 points apiece to lift the team 107-92 at the end of the fourth quarter, according to a report by LakersNation.com.

In the same report, Lin told the media about defense being the key to their first win. He said, "From an X's and O's standpoint, I think we played really hard tonight. Everybody gave everything they had. We had big contributions all around the board. If you talk about which stretch was the best stretch, it was the stretch where we were doing it right on the defensive end, and the defense is what is going to carry us."

Fans were getting excited about getting another glimpse of "Linsanity". The point guard added seven assists, three rebounds and one steal during the game. He scored 12 of his team-high 21 points in the third quarter.

Lakers Nation added that Lin has the potential to become an offensive threat but has to be more consistent. He was forgettable during their first five outings but is slowly becoming more comfortable with Kobe Bryant on the floor.

Carlos Boozer also scored 16 points. His scoring streak also fired up during the third quarter, when the Lakers were trailing by seven points. By the time the fourth quarter started, the Lakers were leading 76-64.

ESPN reported that Al Jefferson scored 23 points while Kemba Walker scored 17 points for the Charlotte Hornets. Gary Neal had 14 while Lance Stephenson had 10 points.

Neal said, "The difference was that they made shots and we didn't. Kobe hit a couple of tough fades and Lin hit a few. It doesn't matter that the Lakers were 0-5. Any time you have a Hall of Famer like Kobe, you always have a chance to win."

In another ESPN article, Bryant reportedly said after the game, "We got to start somewhere."

Lakers coach Byron Scott said, "I know the city probably feels good about it." He added, "They were all pretty quiet. What I said was, 'OK, that's one.'"

The Philadelphia 76ers are now the only team that remains winless in the league. Scott said in the same ESPN report, "Mentally, it gives us the vision that we can win."

Los Angeles is set to face the Memphis Grizzlies next.
