Jeremy Lin Trade Rumors 2014: Will 'Linsanity' Leave the Houston Rockets?
After the Houston Rockets lost to a shocking buzzer beater by Damian Lillard in Game 6 of the first round of the Western Conference semifinals, rumors started circulating again that the Rockets may be looking for better formula to reach the Finals the following year, according to Bleacher Report.
General Manager Daryl Morey is faced with the option to drop either or both Omer Asik and Jeremy Lin. The contracts of the two players are worth $30 million the following year. Morey said that they are always aggressive and always seeking aggressive situations. He added that the record has to be in the high 50s if they wish to be in excellent condition, and that their defense has to improve first and foremost.
Asik has become a second option because of the presence of all-star Dwight Howard. Troy Daniels and Patrick Beverley are also shaving off minutes from Lin in the past several games.
According to Gospel Herald, Lin was already open to the idea of being a bench player, similar to how Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs has been in previous seasons. He aims to focus more on team play instead of individual effort. He talked about Ginobili saying, "I want to look at what he has done. Maybe not so much his game - because we are very different - but his approach in terms of coming off the bench and what that looks like and how to be effective every night and how to maintain a consistent level of aggression."
Lin said he intends to play with the Rockets, whether or not there are any speculations of him being traded to another team when his contract expires. He said that the team learned a lot from their recent loss and that they should concentrate on winning games and not on things that can happen, such as a possible trade.
In a report by Chron, the Rockets still lack consistency. There have been hints of Linsanity in the six games against Portland but the Rockets as a whole should contribute equally in each game if they wish to reach the Finals.
