Google is making the wearable device open for the public to purchase, the company announced in a Google+ post.
The sale event was initially leaked by The Verge citing an internal Google slide which reveals the tech company's plan to make its Explorer Program open to the public. Google starts off the announcement saying that they had initially planned to make the announcement next week, "but it looks like the cat's out of the bag now," the post reads.
According to the post, any adult (over 18 years old) in the US can purchase a pair of the wearable device next Tuesday, April 15th at 6am PDT. Google notes that "only some spots" in the Glass Explorer Program will be open. "The number of spots available is limited, so mark your calendar if you want to get in," the company warns.
Google has previously drawn in Google Explorers two years ago at Google I/O. The number of Explorers also shot up after the company held a social media contest, asking would-be Glass Explorers what they'd do if they had a pair and eventually giving invites to the program to individuals who gave out the chosen answers. Friend invites, schools and universities were also tickets to the Glass Explorer Program.
"But every day we get requests from those of you who haven't found a way into the program yet, and we want your feedback too," Google explained the one-day Google Glass sale event.
A pair of the wearable device will set back interested buyers and potential Glass Explorers $1,500 + tax. According to Google, each $1,500 pre-tax purchase comes with a preferred shade or frame. The company suggests that interested buyers sign up for a reminder to purchase HERE or get back to the link by April 15th at 9am EDT.
As for non-US interested buyers, Google says, "Sorry :( We're just not ready yet to bring Glass to other countries."
