If rumors are true, people should be able to upgrade their iOS 5.1.1-running Apple devices to the iOS 6 in a matter of weeks.

Apple's newest iOS dubbed "The World's Most Advanced Mobile Operating System" is expected to be unveiled during a "huge" event the Cupertino company is planning to hold on September 12, according to various media agencies.

Some rumor that Apple will take a step further and announce its latest iPhone iteration - the iPhone 5 - during the event as well.

The iOS 6 and the iPhone 5, however, wouldn't be released for sale until September 21, reportedly.

Thus, with the release date looming, we take a look at what fans and other general consumers are saying about the iOS 6 including the enhancements it'll come with and attempt to catch the atmosphere that is noticeably building up in anticipation for the upcoming software.

Information regarding the iOS 6's newest features including snapshots of what it will look like could be found at this location.

Fan, Consumer Comments:

Enough about the iPhone and iPad. The iPod Touch is now two years old without a real upgrade! I remember they were all the rage until the iPhone started expanding its carrier list in America. Now Apple thinks they don't need to upgrade that product anymore.

Not only were they available on other OS's, some of them were also available in the jailbreak world, such as, do not disturb, Siri being smarter (Siri is still smarter with a jailbreak). They didn't add the features we really needed like toggles (WiFi, bluetooth, brightness ) they could have put them right in the notofication center. it's very annoying to close an app just to lunch setting to adjust ur brightness or manage wifi. All of these features are available in the jailbreak world.

I would like to know why the ipad 1 is not supported. The device is barely 2 years old and has already been disregarded. These devices are not cheap and regrettably not everyone can afford to buy a new device every couple of years, although I am sure Apple would love nothing better. Very disappointed in Apple for that move!

Being an Apple fan I welcome all the existing features that apple lacks and obviously new features that will lead apple being unique.

All of this new iOS6 info is too exciting.

wha, wait, you're serious? You're excited watching the Androidification of iOS! I thought you were being /s but then again you are using an iPhone (I assume), so all of this must be new to you. Breathe deep, use a paperbag if you must, your apple brain will eventually process all these new features that I was enjoying on my Droid 1 in 2009....
