Destiny is perhaps one of the most anticipated games to be coming to a wide variety of consoles in 2014, and may very well be the last game many PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners buy before they switch to the next generation consoles. Now, Bungie has released a new trailer for the game, as they announce that Sony consoles will get access to the game's beta before anyone else.
The trailer begins with three characters descending down some tunnels. In a nice touch the player's source of light is a small cube that hovers by the player's shoulder so as to be unobtrusive, as well as to explain why players have a light source in the dark. Soon, the expansive tunnels start spawning enemies, but they prove to be no match for the trio of human players and their arsenal of weapons. One cool move shows a human player flying forward and then taking out a group of enemies using an explosive ball of blue energy. Another character is able to get up close to the enemies and slice them open using a wrist blade.
From here the game shows several different environments, including a ruined lunar base that the invading alien forces have long since ransacked. Switching back to gameplay footage of the lunar tunnel areas, Players fight their way towards the massive creature that has been chained up in a large room. While the gameplay footage continues, the screen splits in two, and many members of Bungie are seen congratulating Sony on the launch of the PlayStation 4. While this is going on, the humans in Destiny must deal with large enemies with shields. After some more action, the trailer ends with the announcement that the beta program for the game will come first to the PlayStation 3 and 4.
While it was confirmed that Sony consoles will get the first crack at the beta for Destiny, it is unclear exactly when the beta will be made available. Bungie has remained tight-lipped about when fans should expect the game to be released, but the company is shooting for a 2014 launch date. Due to the general lack of information concerning the launch of the game, it may turn out that Destiny will be released in the latter half of 2014 rather than in the spring.
Look out for more news about Destiny as Bungie continues to work on the game and get it ready for launch.
