Game of Thrones has become a phenomenon on HBO, as fans tune in and enjoy the twisting tales of the nobility of Westeros. Now, two of the series biggest stars will be lending their voices to two of the most anticipated games coming soon. Peter Dinklage, the biggest breakout star of the show, will be part of Bungie's Destiny as a companion character. Charles Dance, who play's Dinklage's father Tywin Lannister in the show, will play a major role in The Witcher 3.
Dinklage, who plays the popular character Tyrion Lannister, will be the player's A.I companion Ghost throughout Destiny, and his voice can be heard in the gameplay demo of the game that was shown at E3 in June, which can be viewed below. It remains to be seen exactly how big a role Dinklage will play in Destiny, but considering he plays a similar role to Cortana in Bungie's previous series Halo, Dinklage will constantly giving players advice on how to proceed and help move the plot along when the need arises.
Meanwhile, Charles Dance was recently announced as lending his voice to the upcoming The Witcher 3 as the Emperor of Nilfgaard. For those unfamiliar with the game's story, Nilfgaard invades the Northern Kingdoms in The Witcher 2, and they cause huge amounts of devastation to the areas they take over. Marcin Blacha, the lead writer of The Witcher 3, told IGN the thought process that lead the team at CD Projekt RED to cast the regal actor for the role:
"Charles Dance is the perfect candidate to play the mighty Nilfgaardian emperor in our upcoming title. It's a dream come true for the team here at RED to be able to work with such an accomplished actor and magnetic personality."
It is not yet clear how big Dance's role will be in the game. Hopefully his role will be bigger than some celebrity roles in games, and the authoritative actor can give a memorable performance that sparks a wider interest in The Witcher 3 as well as previous games in the critically acclaimed series.
Destiny will be out sometime in 2014 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Witcher 3 has a similarly vague release window of 2014 and will be available on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Look out for news on both games as 2014 gets closer and next-gen consoles are released.
