Battlefield 4 News: Weapons Unlock Review for Multiplayer [Trailer]

The day has finally arrived, and the kids are loving it. Already one of the most-anticipated games of the year, the hype surrounding Battlefield 4 continues to snowball now that the game's been released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In celebration of Battlefield 4's launch, let's take a closer look at the game, and exactly how many points players will need for certain weapon classes to unlock bigger and better weapons.

To unlock new weapons, players must use that weapon class to earn points in that class.

One of weapon classes with the least amount of points required to completely unlock all weapons is the PDW. Players can unlock the JS2 with 48,000 PDWs, which is the best weapon available in that class that can be obtained with PDW points. The other weapons in that class that can be unlocked (in order) are the PP-2000, UMP-45, CBJ-MS, PDW-R, CZ-3A1 and JS2. However, players can also unlock the P90 and UMP-9 through campaign missions.

In the same vein, the LMG family will be unlocked completely in 48,000 points. The LMGs available online are the Type 88 LMG, LSAT, PKP Pecheneg, QBB-95-1, M240B and MG4. In addition, the M249 and RPK-12 are unlocked in the campaign.

Assault Rifles are some of the most common weapons in the game, and to reflect that, players need 71,000 points to get every single assault rifle in the game. These weapons include the SCAR-H, M416, SAR-21, AEK-971, FAMAS, AUG A3, M16A4 and CZ-805. The ACE 23 and QBZ-95-1 are unlocked in the campaign.

Sniper Rifles have the lowest score (42,000) to unlock the top-tier weapons in the game. The weapons available in the game from first to last are the M40A5, Scout Elite, SV-98, JNG-90, 338-Recon, M98B and SRR-61. The FY-JS is the only sniper rifle available to unlock in the campaign.

Finally, shotguns are some of the more difficult weapons to unlock, as players initially need a 16,000 support score to unlock the first shotgun (QBS-09) available for multiplayer, and no shotguns get unlocked through the campaign. After that, players can unlock all shotguns for the game with 59,000 shotgun points, which will give them the 870 MCS, M1014, Hawk 12G, Saiga 12K, SPAS-12, UTS 15 and DBV-12.
