Battlefield 4 is expected to do big business for publisher EA Games when it comes out on current and next-gen systems. Recently, EA's COO Peter Moore wrote a blog post discussing the game and other blockbuster titles coming to both generations of consoles, and revealed when Battlefield 4's open beta will begin and when next-gen console owners can expect to buy the game.

Moore said that the beta program for Battlefield 4 on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will start very soon.

"The highly-anticipated Battlefield 4 action starts with the Battlefield 4 Open Beta on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC slated for October 1, then the game lights up on October 29," wrote Moore.

The COO of EA Games also stressed that, by buying the current gen version and playing the open beta, gamers can begin building their Battlefield 4 profile and start earning stats, unlocking items and learnign the various multiplayer maps before they make the switch to the next-gen version. Moore also reiterated that many video game retailers are offering users a deal to trade in their old copies of Battlefield 4 when the new versions come out in exchange for a new version of the game at a price as low as $10.

Moore also revealed when the game (along with the next-gen versions of Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14) will launch on next-gen systems in both North America and Europe:

"These games on PS3 and Xbox 360 are the pinnacle of this console generation. But, in the case of Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14 and Battlefield 4, they launch well before the next-generation versions hitting a month or two later. I'm happy to confirm today the street dates for these three titles on next-generation consoles: Nov. 19 (North America)/Nov. 21 (Europe) for Xbox One and Nov. 12 (North America)/Nov. 29 (Europe) for PlayStation 4."

With EA offering the chance to trade up to the next-gen versions of these popular titles, gamers would be smart to jump on the opportunity.
