This weekend "Gravity" continued to fare well at the box office, while newcomer "The Counselor" failed to impress.
While the film did not capture the No. 1 spot again, "Gravity" continued it solid run at ranking No. 2 and making $20 million, bringing its total to $199 million. Directed by the Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron, the film is predicted to make $250-275 million by the end of its time in theaters.
Meanwhile, "The Counselor," starring Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender, failed to capture the hearts of audiences. The film opened to a disappointing $8 million and also scored negative reviews with a 35 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. The star-studded film was one of the most anticipated films of the year and was once seen as an Oscar contender.

Meanwhile, Oscar hopefuls "Captain Phillips" scored $11 million and "12 Years A Slave" brought in $2.1 million after expanding to 123 theaters.
