Batman: Arkham Origins is one of the highlights of the fall gaming lineup, and the game promises to deliver a brand new Batman experience that explores the origins of Batman and deals with the Caped Crusader learning how to be a force for justice. Now, it has been revealed that a previously unannounced villain will be a part of the game.
During the New York Comic Con, it was announced that The Electrocutioner will be one of the eight assassins contracted by Black Mask to kill Batman. Electrocutioner, also known as Lester Buchinsky, will join Copperhead, Bane, and others as they try to take out Batman in the early portion of his crime fighting career.
Electrocutioner first appeared in comics in 1981, and uses a suit that generates electricity to fight his enemies. Using the suit the Electrocutioner can stun or even kill victims with one touch, which could be a challenge for players in Batman: Arkham Origins. Interestingly enough, the shock gloves seen in use by Batman come from Electrocutioner.
In addition, IGN is reporting that a new mobile game besides the 3DS and Vita title Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate will become available soon. The mobile version of the game will be available on both iOS and Android devices, and the game is expected to come out fairly soon to coincide with the Arkham Origins release date of Oct. 29.
Interestingly enough, the mobile game is not being developed by WB Montreal (who is developing the original Arkham Origins) or Armature (who is developing the Blackgate mobile game) but by a third studio, NetherRealm Studios, the studio behind the Mortal Kombat reboot and Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The game will be an arcade style brawler with some RPG elements involved as well. Players will have a wide range of suits for Batman to wear, which will affect his stats. The mobile game and the console version of Arkham Origins will feature cross platform unlocks, and connecting the two games will allow new suits to become available. It has been confirmed that the Superman: Red Son version of Batman will become available this way, though no other specific Batman suits were mentioned.
