Some information about what we can expect from Batman: Arkham Origins' DLC has been leaked, as Amazon.com is promoting that those who pre-order the game will receive a Deathstroke DLC pack for free, indicating that the character will be playable in this prequel to the Arkham series. Deathstroke was confirmed as one of the eight main villains that will appear in the game. Players will also receive ten dollars of Amazon.com credit by ordering from the site. This news comes from IGN, and the advertisement can be found here.
This would not be the first time that a villain would be available as a playable character in the Arkham series. The Joker was available as a playable character in the DLC for Arkham Asylum, and Catwoman appeared frequently in both the main game and DLC for Arkham City.
In DC Comics Deathstroke is very similar to Batman, in that both are very tactical and use finesse and skill rather than brute force, so having Deathstroke as a playable character makes sense from a gameplay perspective. The only other appear of Deathstroke in the series was in the mobile game Arkham City Lockdown.
The story of Arkham Origins takes place years before the events of the first game in the series, and follows a group of supervillains trying to take out Batman early in his career as the Caped Crusader. The game is also rumored to have a multiplayer component as well, though that has yet to be confirmed by WB Montreal, who have taken over the series from previous developer Rocksteady. It will be interesting to see if the Deathstroke DLC will tie into this multiplayer rumor, or he will have a larger part to play in the story overall.
Batman: Arkham Origins will be available October 25 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC.
