Actress Ana de la Reguera Sends Message to President Obama, Eva Longoria and Oprah Winfrey Regarding Immigration Reform

Mexican actress Ana de la Reguera has been closely following immigration reform in the U.S., as she showed through her Twitter account @ANADELAREGUERA when she questioned the advances of the reform movement in a tweet.

According to Quién, Ana de la Reguera directed her message to television host Oprah Winfrey, actress Eva Longoria and even the presidential couple of the United States, Barack and Michelle Obama, questioning them on the delay of the process for the law to take effect as soon as possible.

"I'm sure you have seen the film 'The Butler.' I think it asks a Latino to ask the following: if we're the butlers of these times and you have been witnesses or have experienced it, why have we, as a Latino community, not seen more advances in immigration reform in Obama's administration?," read the tweet from the Veracruz actress.

De la Reguera already tweeted about immigration reform before, as shared by the newspaper Milenio when she referred to President Obama saying, "We hope you deliver, because in your last administration you used this matter to win votes and you have not delivered yet. I think you've advanced and done some things, there have been advances, but you have not delivered yet."

But Quien affirms that, so far, none of the people the actress tweeted to have replied, although President Obama said he cried when he saw "The Butler." 

The movie, starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, is about the story of an African American that worked in the White House as a butler for 34 years and lived through many civil movements in the United States.

"I cried thinking not only of the butlers that have worked here in the White House, but for an entire generation of talented and skilled people that due to segregation laws and discrimination, had limits on how far they could go," stated President Obama regarding the movie, as shared by the magazine.
