PS3, PS4 News: Sony Offering $10 for Every $50 Spent on PSN Games, Extends Through Oct. 29

Sony is trying to persuade users to spend more in the PlayStation Store, and is now offering a new promotion that will allow users to get a $10 rebate for every $50 they spend at the online store. This offer applies to any and all content found in the store, including digital games, music, television shows, music and even PlayStation Plus subscriptions.

First announced by Sony on the PlayStation Blog, the offer is now available and will run until Oct. 29. During this time users can repeatedly spend more than $50 and keep receiving their $10 rebate. However, there is a limit at $100 in rebate money, which would require a user to spend $500 in the online store. A code for the rebate will be emailed to users by Nov. 8, which must be redeemed by Dec. 6.

This means that users can spend money at the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 3 and get their rebate code, then if they have purchased PlayStation 4 when it launches on Nov. 15 they can use this free credit to purchase games on the new console. This could be a huge boost for users looking to build up their next-gen library quickly or buy new content for the PlayStation 4.

In addition to buying new games or media on the PlayStation Store with this new offer, users can also use it on pre-orders for digital copies of certain games. Games included in this offer include NBA 2K14, Batman Arkham Origins, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty Ghosts and Watch Dogs. Many of these pre-orders will come with additional bonuses such as new PlayStation 3 themes.

Players looking to buy the latest video games such as Grand Theft Auto 5, FIFA 14, or Pro Evolution Soccer 14 can buy the game on the PlayStation Store and receive some extra cash for buying the game online instead of buying a physical copy. While the PlayStation 3 only has a few more months left as the current gen console before the PlayStation 4 arrives, players can squeeze in some last minute entertainment from the console yet.

This offer also is a good chance for gamers to catch up on classics offered on the PlayStation Store, as the PlayStation 4 will not be backwards compatible and players will not be able to play PlayStation 3 classics on the console.
