Jeremy Lin reportedly crashed out of the top 100 players ranking by Sports Illustrated, but the former Harvard University hot shot could be headed into a breakthrough season with the Houston Rockets trusting the point guard again.

According to SheridanHoops NBA columnist Michael Scotto, a source close to situation told him that Lin didn't make it on the list of SI'sTop 100 NBA players for next season. Lin averaged 13.4 points, 6.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds in his first full season as a regular starter in the league in 2012-13, but his struggles in his playoff debut might have contributed to his fall in the rankings.

"Jeremy Lin failed to make the Top 100 player rankings according to Sports Illustrated. #Linsanity," Scotto posted on his Twitter account on Monday.

Still, there are basketball analysts who are confident Lin will bounce back this coming season, thanks largely to the arrival of Dwight Howard as the point guard's pick-and-roll partner. Before his much-maligned tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, Howard was considered the most dominant big man in the league because of his ability to finish plays efficiently out of pick-and-roll plays during his time with the Orlando Magic.

On the other hand, Lin has been known as one of NBA's finest pick-and-roll executors as proven by his success with the New York Knicks. However, Lin simply didn't have the ideal partner to make the play work to perfection in Houston with center Omer Asik having limited offensive moves.

In his recent visit in Taiwan, Lin revealed his frustrations and upheaval during the 2012-13 season, adding that the Rockets coaching staff had lost faith in him.

"I became so obsessed with becoming a great basketball player ... trying to be Linsanity, being this phenomenon that took the NBA by storm," Lin said in a press conference last month via ESPN"The coaches were losing faith in me; basketball fans were making fun of me. ... I was supposed to be joyful and free, but what I experienced was the opposite. I had no joy, and I felt no freedom."

However, it seems that head coach Kevin McHale and the Rockets coaching staff are starting to trust their point guard again after hosting a mini-camp that aims to strengthen the on-court chemistry of Lin and Howard. Rockets legend Hakeem 'The Dream' Olajuwon was also in Aspen to help both players execute their bread-and-butter play effectively.
