Mississippi's gator hunters caught their biggest alligator yet - a 741-pounder reptile.
Holding a new state record, the 741-pound reptile was caught Sunday night at the backwaters of the Mississippi River. Gator hunters Jimmy Greer, John Ratcliff and Jennifer Ratcliff were the lucky ones to make the big catch.
"It was around midnight when we initially saw this one," Mr Turner told the Clarion-Ledger. "We passed it by the first time. We really didn't think it was big enough to go after," he added.
According to the team, it took them roughly 30 minutes to get it out of the water and into the boat. "Even with these two guys, it was very hard, and we were worn out," Ratcliff told News Oxy. "If it wouldn't have been for those two guys, we would have never gotten him in the boat."
The 741-pound alligator is not only the largest alligator in Mississippi but is also the longest at 13 feet and 6.5 inches.
