The Sony Xperia i1 Honami has been one of the most talked about devices of the year, as tech experts and fans alike try to figure out the upcoming phone's specs and features. Now, it appears that Sony has confirmed that the Honami will make its first public appearance on Sept. 4 in Berlin, according to a report from Bloomberg Businessweek. If the information is accurate, the reveal would come two days before the official start of IFA 2013, which also takes place in Berlin, so it would seem as though Sony is trying to make an early impact to distinguish the Honami before anyone can preview other upcoming smartphones and tablets.
Bloomberg's report, sourced from "two people familiar with the matter," continues the rumors that Sony will reveal the newest addition to its Xperia lineup Sept. 4. The Honami is a device that appears to be focused on consumers looking for a powerful camera within in a high-end smartphone. The biggest feature of the device is the camera, which has been pegged as a 20 megapixel monster with a Sony G lens and an aperture of f/2.0 for low light settings. This alligns the smartphone as one of the top options for phone-camera connoisseurs. In addition, the Honami is rumored to have 4K support, meaning that users will be able to take ultra high definition photos and video.
Sony will also have two new accessories to show off at IFA for photography lovers: Two new interchangeable camera lenses from Sony, the DSC-QX10 and the DSC-QX100. These lenses snap on to iPhone and Android phones using magnets, and allow users to implement higher settings for photos and videos. The lenses will also come with Micro SD slots and a display panel.
The Sony Xperia i1 Honami is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing smartphone options, and could be the breakout device Sony needs to help the company gain ground on its competition. With devices such as the Honami and the massive Xperia Z Ultra phablet coming soon and Sony's already strong lineup of devices, it looks as though the company may have a chance to turn heads, and be as popular with casual consumers as the reigning kings of the market, Apple and Samsung.
