Houston Rockets Guard Jeremy Lin Talks About NBA Trade Speculations, Teaming With Dwight Howard
Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin has been a subject of trade rumors ever since his lackluster showing in the postseason. Despite the pressure from the media, Linsanity managed to stay away from the issue until now.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Lin shared his feeling about being at the center of trade rumors and how these speculations affects him heading into next season.
"Right now, I know there's always speculation about what might happen, but I haven't made any decisions, I haven't thought about it and I'm going to approach that question when the time comes," said Lin, who's currently overseeing a basketball camp in China.
Lin signed with the Rockets on a three-year deal last summer after the 'Linsanity' craze in New York. Previously a journeyman in the league, Lin came out of nowhere to lead the Knicks to seven straight victories and keep them in the playoff picture after a poor start that season.
In his first season with the Rockets, Lin posted solid numbers during the regular season by averaging 13.4 points, 6.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 32 minutes per ball game.
However, Lin was completely exposed by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. A chest injury didn't help his cause, either, as backup guard Patrick Beverley took Lin's starting roll while he was recuperating from the injury.
However, Lin is optimistic that the arrival of Dwight Howard will help him become a better player, especially as a ball distributor. Several basketball analysts predict a better season for Lin because he will finally have a perfect pick-and-roll partner. Lin is considered one of the finest pick-and-roll players in the league while Howard has been widely considered as the best finisher off that play.
"We're not yet in Houston and haven't trained together so I don't know yet," Lin said about his potential partnership with Howard. "But he really likes to play pick-and-roll and I really like to play pick-and-roll, so I hope we can work really well together and really happily learn how to play with each other."
