One of the most popular characters in Super Smash Bros. 4 will apparently be getting a brand new level.
The new level is based on Metroid: Other M, which stars the character Samus, one of the characters confirmed for Super Smash Bros. 4. The stage was revealed on the official Super Smash Bros. website.
"Out of the blue, here's a new stage-the Pyrosphere from Metroid: Other M! An enemy from Samus's past may appear at any second..." wrote game director Masahiro Sakurai.
For those unfamiliar with Metroid: Other M, this stage is the setting for an epic confrontation between Samus and longtime foe Ridley. This seems to confirm that the character will be making an appearance in the game in this stage, perhaps as a hazard players must avoid while trying to defeat their foes.
As for the stage, it looks fairly plain from the screenshot provided, so hopefully Ridley makes an appearence and livens things up. The stage consists of a big central platform, with two smaller elevated platforms at each end of the stage. The background looks interesting enough, and the big empty middle of the stage would be perfect for Riley to come in and wreak havoc, so the stage does have potential. After all, the most popular stages are usually the least gimmicky oriented stages and ones that let players show off their skills.
Nintendo releases new screenshots everyday on the game's official website, so fans should check in daily to see what news can be gleaned. In addition, major information concerning the game's roster and other aspects will be announced on the website. So far, 14 characters have been announced for the game, with plenty more expected to be revealed by the time the game comes out in 2014. The game will have two separate versions on the Wii U and 3DS, with different stages reflecting the console that fans decide to use. Nintendo revealed 12 characters for the game at E3, and has since confirmed Captain Olimar and his Pikmin and Luigi as characters appearing in the game.
Look out for more information about Super Smash Bros. 4 news as Nintendo continues to work on the game and eventually give the game a more concrete release date.
